Orange County Center of Performing Arts

Costa Mesa , CA

In 2006, the The Orange County Performing Arts Center expanded its venues to include the 2,000-seat Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall and 500-seat multi-functional Samueli Theater. The Center’s new facility, which also includes a studio theater and education lab, joins the adjacent Tony® Award-winning South Coast Repertory and a site for a future visual arts complex to create Segerstrom Center for the Arts. A 46,000-square-foot outdoor community plaza unites all of the venues to create one of the largest performing arts campuses in the United States.

The Challenges:

  • Build a boiler exhaust system that preserves the beauty of this high-profile building
  • Heating system consisted of six Cleaver-Brooks boilers and two A.O. Smith water heaters

ENERVEX Solution:

  • Single exhaust stack system
  • Demand-controlled mechanical draft system
  • Modulating draft dampers for perfect boiler operation at all times
  • Small footprint for boilers and stack throughout building
  • Mechanical draft fans allow stack termination below the parapet wall, out of sight
