Moncton Hospital, located in Moncton, New Brunswick, is a leader in healthcare delivery. The multi-specialty healthcare facility provides family practice, neurosurgery, medical oncology, interventional radiology, and women and children’s services. The hospital has continued to expand and serves thousands of patients each year. Moncton Hospital is also a site for numerous fully accredited education programs.
In the facility, building heat and water is provided by two 700 HP oil-fired Cleaver Brooks steam boilers.
The Challenge:
Improve the function and efficiency of the existing boiler system
Design a versatile, compact heat recovery system
Add components to an already crowded boiler room
ENERVEX Solution:
A compact, modular VHX-DRS Economizer to recover waste heat which can be stored and used for building heat and hot water
A flexible side-stream system so that flue gasses can travel through the economizer or bypass through the existing chimney system if needed
A modulating mechanical draft system to monitor and adjust the exhaust flow rates to maintain the desired flue gas temperature
Conserve energy and minimize waste by increasing the boiler operating efficiency from 84% to 90%, resulting in savings of up to 7.4 Mill. BTU/HR. which could amount to $450,000 in fuel savings annually.
